Diversity on the catwalk: A few steps toward change.
Every body belongs boston fashion week is one of the luminaries in contemporary trends and one of the most significant movements that stand out in recent years is “Everybody Counts”. Some tenets of this project are that fashion can and should be for everyone – no exclusions. It promotes a culture that everyone should be able to share the vision with models and designers of different race, size, gender, and disabilities. In fashion week performances, design presentations, and among spectators, “Everybody Counts” is a cheerful message which means each individual, whether he or she is thin or not, or no matter the color of skin, have the right to claim their presence in the fashion industry.
As described above, the present study and its premises stand in opposition to conventional beauty parameters.
The fashion industry has for long been accused of endorsing certain body types, skin types and or gender that don’t represent the general public. Boston Fashion Week is beginning to battle back with the “Everybody Counts” drive that goes against these stereotypical perceptions of beauty. Hence, by employing models with a wider age range and size, colour, or disability, the purpose of the event is also to make diversity a norm and evoke reflections among brands. In this way, BFW breaks prejudices about thin women as being trendy and provides information that beauty comes in sizes.
Catalyzing Change for Underserved People
While for many the Diversity message of Boston Fashion Week is translated through the casting of more diverse models, there is also a way that it is more inclusive in that it offers opportunities for more designers from marginalized groups. These consist of designers from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community, and disable designers. In this sense, BFW supports and provides these creators with a platform to unveil their concept of art. Such an empowerment enables these designers to showcase and be seen and perhaps, they wouldn’t in other more elite fashion experiences.
A Vision of a New World
While fashion industry tries to answers those questions it is constantly seeking to get better, Boston Fashion Week’s “every body belongs boston fashion week” shows how fashion should look in the future. But it accentuates the culture of diversity & inclusion as would go beyond the mere nuance as well as a movement towards a focused equitable practice in the industry. So, by welcoming people of this or that status, BFW can become the model for other cities and fashion events, expanding the idea of what fashion means in the modern world.
This initiative is making it clear: fashion is for everyone, and every body belongs boston fashion week industry should enshrine the diversity of the world. Whether you are involved in this industry as a designer, model, vendor or a plain clothes-wearer being part of Boston Fashion Week means Everybody Counts.
